New Drama News: "Full Sun" Spins A Tale Of Love And Revenge

As “The Prime Minister and I” draws closer to its happily-ever-after conclusion, it’s time to learn more about the drama that will replace it.
For a change of pace, its replacement is “Full Sun,” a tragic melodrama about a con man. Actor Yoon Kye Sang will play the role of con man Jung Se Ro, a man plagued by bad luck, some of it brought about by his own poor choices. First, the character lost his father and had his life destroyed by a murder case. That murder took place in Thailand and was related to the theft of some diamonds. Then Jung Se Ro has the misfortune to accidentally kill someone. And in a case of really bad luck, he falls in love with the fiancée of the man he killed. Like one of last year’s popular melodramas “Secrets,” “Full Sun” will explore themes of love, revenge and forgiveness.
After his unintentional involvement in the case, Jung Se Ro has no choice but to live his life as a con man. He partners up with Park Gang Jae, played by Cho Jin Woong. The actor appeared in the drama “Tree with Deep Roots” and can be seen this year in the film “Kundo: The Age of Rampant.”
Jung Se Ro’s life becomes even more complicated when he falls in love with a woman named Han Young Won. Han Ji Hye, who was last seen in the dramas “I Summon You Gold” and “May Queen,” will play Han Young Won.
“Reply 1994” star Song Jong Ho will play Jung Se Ro’s rival Kong Woo Jin. Kim Yoo Ri, last seen as the “little sun” in “The Master’s Sun” also has a role as Seo Jae In, a carefree con artist who loves Jung Se Ro.
It’s a promising cast. And while the plot does not seem very original, a very basic melodrama plot did not stop “Secrets” from earning great ratings last year.
Director Bae Kyung Soo, who directed “Women in the Sun” and “Wild Romance,” is a master of the love and revenge melodrama.
Heo Hye Sung, who wrote part of “Dream High 2,” some drama specials and the film “All About My Wife” will be writing the screenplay.
