If you love dramas and the band Big Bang, an upcoming drama may be just the entertaining diversion you long for. Seungri, the second member of the group to make the transition from singing to acting, has taken his first k-drama role.

Following the acting success of band member T.O.P., Seungri is also doing his best to make the transition from singing to acting.

His agency, YG Entertainment, recently announced that he would join the weekend drama "Angel Eyes," playing a Korean-American character Teddy. His character returns to Korea after living in America to fulfill his dream of becoming an emergency rescue worker. There he will meet join Gu Hye Sun, who also works as an EMT.

While it is Seungri's first Korean drama, it is not his first acting role. He has been seen in two Japanese dramas. Last year he had a supporting role in the Japanese drama "Kindaichi Case Files." Then he appeared in the mobile drama Yubikoi Kimini Okuru Message.

Fans commented on Seungri's endearing command of English when he spoke to them on the last worldwide Big Bang tour, but will his English be authentic enough to sound as if he actually lived in America? His character is supposed to have lived in Texas, so it will be interesting to see how his cute but limited language skills, combine with a Texas twang.

Seungri's role in the drama will be a supporting but important one, as his optimistic, idealistic character will help create conflict. There's no word yet on whether he serve as the third wheel in the inevitable love triangle?

In this story, Gu Hye Sun, who is also represented by his entertainment agency YG Entertainment, plays a woman who has had her sight restored. Twelve years ago, she was separated from the man she loved, played by Lee Sang Yoon. Now that he is a doctor, the two meet again.

The character Teddy will be well received by fans, as he is affectionate towards the elderly. However, his personality will create conflict in the drama.

The drama will also star Kang Ha Neul, last seen in "The Heirs" and Nam Ji Hyeon, who appeared in "To The Beautiful You." These actors will play the younger version of the leading actors.

Choi Moon Suk will direct the drama. Yoon Ji Ryun, who wrote "Boys Over Flowers" has written the screenplay. It will follow "She Gets Married Thrice" in April.
