While some Korean fans may not be ready to see actor Park Shi Hoo return to dramaland, his Chinese fans recently welcomed him with open arms.

When the actor arrived in Beijing earlier this week to promote his Chinese art house film "Scent," about 2,000 of his fans clogged Beijing Airport and created traffic problems for airport security.

The airport had to call in additional security personnel to handle the crowd and keep the actor safe. A subsequent press conference about the film had to be cancelled because of the size of the crowd.

According to the actor's agency Hoo Factory, he is very grateful for the support demonstrated by Chinese fans and will do all that he can to repay their devotion.

Park Shi Hoo recently considered playing a role in the upcoming k-drama "Golden Cross," but ultimately decided to decline the role. It would have been his first drama role in a year following his 2013 scandal.

The Korean Management Association criticized him for considering the role saying that it was too soon for the actor to return to Korean television after his scandal caused social upheaval.

The scandal involved a young actress who claimed that the actor raped her because she was possibly drugged. He said their relations were consensual and there was no evidence that she was drugged or very drunk. The case resulted in charges being filed against him and several lawsuits, all of which were ultimately withdrawn. The actor's agency denied that any settlement was made.

But, according to the KMA, the actor was not sufficiently repentant, even though he was cleared of all the charges and none of the major Korean television stations banned him from appearing in their dramas.

Park Shi Hoo said that his decision to decline the "Golden Cross" role had nothing to do with the KMA criticism, but there is always the possibility that a statement like that can influence potential drama advertisers.

In his Chinese film, "Scent," Park Shi Hoo plays Kang In Joon, a Korean interior designer. He co-stars in the film with Chen Ran, a popular Chinese actress and fashionista. Jessey Tsang Tsui-Shan, who won a Best Rookie Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her film "Big Blue Lake," directed the film.

It was shot in Shanghai and on Jeju Island.

According to Hoo Factory, the actor decided to do this film to repay his Chinese fans, who believed, supported and waited for him.
