One of the reasons the kiss takes on such significance in k-dramas is because viewers have to wait so long for it.

Viewers can usually expect a declaration of love and a kiss by around the tenth episode but occasionally they have to wait a few episodes longer.

And although there are dramas that start out with a more intimate relationship between the leads, it's still the exception rather than the rule.

"A Witch's Love" is already in the exception category as it featured a kiss in the first episode. The story about a romance between a successful career woman and a much younger man might seem similar to "Secret Love Affair," but "A Witch's Love" is a romantic comedy, while the other drama is a melodrama.

"A Witch's Love" plays the love story of an unconventional couple for laughs.

The first episode featured a kiss between 39-year-old Ban Ji Yeon, played by Uhm Jung Hwa, and 25-year-old Yong Dong Ha, played by Park Seo Joon. The scene started with a plot to embarrass Ban Ji Yeon. Another young man was asked to pretend to confess his feelings for her and look as if he would kiss her. She was flattered and was ready to be kissed. But then he embarrassed her by saying that he could not kiss her. She was too old. So Park Seo Joon kissed her instead.

The kiss starts as part of a prank but Park Seo Joon's character finds himself suddenly affected. He falls for Ban Ji Yeon despite the age difference and must work to convince her to accept him. It's not easy because Uhm Jung Hwa's character has not had an easy time of love. She planned to get married once but her groom left her at the altar. This naturally made her cynical about surrendering to love. Since then she has focused on her career and made a success of it.

Park Seo Joon's character is the owner of a small errand service. His pursuit of her threatens to melt her heart but then things are complicated by the return of her fiancé, played by Han Jae Suk.

The drama is a remake of the Taiwanese series "My Queen." Uhm Jung Hwa, who is known as the Korean Madonna, was a singer but has successfully transitioned to an acting career. She made her film debut in 1991 and her latest film role is in "The Law of Pleasures." Before "A Witch's Love," her last drama was "He Who Can't Marry" in 2009.

If there was a kiss scene in the first episode, will there be a kiss scene in every episode? Viewers may tune in to find out.
