Even though this week sees the finale of the 51-episode drama "Empress Ki," "Big Man" got off to a big head start with decent ratings and some impressive kisses.

While "Empress Ki" ruled the ratings with 26.2 percent, "Big Man" entered the fray with ratings of 6.0 percent. That is a bump up from the last ratings of "The Full Sun," which rated 2.7 percent.

The first episode of "Big Man" had not one but two kisses. One took place between Kang Ji Hwan and Jung So Min. The second took place between Daniel Choi and Lee Da Hee.

At a recent press conference for the show, Daniel Choi said he wanted his kissing scene to be as electrically charged as the scene between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." That's the scene rumored to have started their real-life relationship.

It could have been better, he said.

"We didn't have enough time to talk about how to act out the kissing scene," said the 28-year-old Choi. "If we had more time, it would have been a more intense sort of kiss. But she was shy and so was I. We ended up kissing like a shy young couple, rather than longtime lovers."

Kang Ji Hwan's kiss with Jung So Min on the other hand was fiery. His character Kim Ji Hyuk kisses Kang Jin Ah, a spoiled young heiress. But as the drama continues, it will not be Kang Jin Ah he pursues. He and Daniel Choi's character Kang Jin Ah will compete for the love of So Mi Ra, played by Lee Da Hee.

The fate of these men is destined to intertwine. When the drama stars Kang Dong Suk needs a heart transplant and his family sends some thugs out looking for a man without a family. That man was almost Kim Ji Hyuk, an orphan. But later Kim Ji Hyuk learns that he is actually the eldest son of the same chaebol family.

The Director's Cut of "God's Gift - 14 Days" fell into third place, offering a happier ending than the drama delivered last week. The show recorded 3.7 percent, possibly because viewers did not expect another special installment.  In this alternative ending, the villains were punished. Both the president's son and the chief secretary who tried to cover up the original murder went to jail. Next week "Doctor Stranger," starring Lee Jong Suk, Jin Se Yeon and Park Hae In, will fill that time slot and a new round of competition will begin.
