Katy Perry Boyfriend 2014 News: After Rumors Surface About Alleged Romance w/ Diplo; the DJ's Mom Speaks Out

After news surfaced that Katy Perry's new boyfriend of 2014 is allegedly DJ Diplo, his mother has decided to speak out.




Diplo's mom, Barbara Pentz, is stoked about meeting the "Dark Horse" vocalist.




"He hasn't mentioned bringing her home to mama just yet," said Pentz to RadarOnline.com. "But I think he would before it gets serious."




If it does ever get serious Perry better be ready for an interrogation from mama dukes.




"Of course, she's got to be grilled by the mom!" the Major Lazer veteran's mother added.




Although Diplo, real name Thomas Pentz, hasn't directly told his mother about the growing relationship with Perry, the producer did express to his dad that he plans to talk things slow with the singer.




"He hasn't discussed it with me, but he did with his dad. He said 'we're just hanging out. We're just friends right now,'" the mom revealed. "I don't think it's a big deal right now. I don't think they'll be wedding bells yet. They're both doing their own things right now and on opposite coasts. He doesn't seem to be making a big deal about it."




When news broke out that the two entertainers were supposedly dating, Diplo's mom wasn't sure if she should believe it.




"I wondered if it was a publicity stunt. It did occur to me. They both do like the cameras," said Diplo's mom. "She seems like a lovely girl," she continued.




Rumors of the Diplo and Perry love affair started when the two were linked at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival last month.




Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand and use to date John Mayer. Diplo was with singer M.I.A. from 2003 to 2008.
