The success of "You Who Came From The Stars" can be measured in many ways, including its above average ratings and fan devotion to the show's stars. Ratings for the drama rose as high as 28 percent and averaged 24 percent during its run. The series was so popular in China that it prompted government officials to meet to discuss how China could also create such successful dramas. The series also inspired fashion choices and food trends.

Adding to all that success is the fact that the hit show about an alien-human romance also earned the most nominations at the 50th Baeksang Awards, which were held today at Seoul's Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace.

"You Who Came From The Stars" featured prominently in the awards. The drama about an alien who lands on earth in the Joseon era and who remains on earth for 400 years only to fall in love with a Hallyu actress had a total of nine nominations. That is the most nominations in any television category.

"You Who Came From The Stars" starred Kim Soo Hyun as the alien Do Min Joon and Jun Ji Hyun as the self-involved Hallyu star Chun Song Yi. Before the series began, Kim Soo Hyun already had a loyal k-drama fan base due to his appearance in the dramas "Dream High" and "The Moon Embracing The Sun." But the drama series also attracted attention because it was considered Jun Ji Hyun's drama comeback. Before "You Who Came From The Stars" the actress had not appeared in a drama since 1999 when she was Seo Yoon Joo in "Happy Together." Jun Ji Hyun has appeared in a series of films since then. One of her best-known films is "The Thieves," in which she and Kim Soo Hyun played a couple.

Kim Soo Hyun is nominated for Actor Top Excellence and Actor Popularity awards. Jun Ji Hyun is up for Actress Top Excellence Awards and Actress Popularity Award.

Park Hae Jin, who played Chun Song Yi's long-suffering suitor, was also nominated for an Actor Popularity Award.

And it's not just the actors who are being honored.

Singer Lyn was nominated for her contribution to the OST, which took the form of her hit song "My Destiny." Director Jang Tae Too is nominated for the Director Award and writer Park Ji Eun is nominated for the Scriptwriting Award. The series was nominated for the Drama Series Award.

Will they clean up at the awards? We will let you know.
