Chae Rim Upset That Rumors Resurface So Close To Her Wedding

Actress Chae Rim is upset that past rumors have surfaced at a time when she is about to get married to Chinese actor Gao Ziqi.

The rumors about her dating a Chinese athlete first circulated 10 years ago and seem to have been dug up because she is getting married. She found it distressing that the rumors have resurfaced.

On July 4, she posted her reaction to the rumors on Weibo.

"I never said this before and I'll never say it again, but I have to say something to express my discomfort. It's been 10 years. I wish it would stop. It could be gossip for you but for me, it's a huge deal. I've never been close with a single athlete in all my life. I don't understand how you think that could be me. There was nothing there to prove that it was me."

Even though she did not previously comment on the rumors, the actress stressed that they were not true then and they are not true now. When the rumors first spread, she was married to singer songwriter and producer Lee Seung Hwan. The couple divorced three years later and it is not known if the rumors played in their breakup.

Despite the damage to her reputation caused by the additional, Chae never said anything to contradict them. She hoped they would die down of their own accord.

"I thought people would forget about it in time, so I waited," she said. "But while I waited for it to die down, people assumed the rumors were facts. If you've had your source of fun with me already, please stop now."

The 35-year-old actress stressed that her 33-year-old fiancée is her first Chinese boyfriend.

"This man is the first and only foreign man of my life," she wrote.

Chae Rim met her future husband Gao Ziqi, when the actors played a married couple in the CCTV drama "Li's Family Courtyard." The couple admitted their relationship in March, saying they had already been dating for a few months. The couple plans to marry in October.

Although Gao Ziqi is learning Korean, Chae already speaks Mandarin because she has been working in China for the past few years. But fans were surprised when she announced she was dating the Chinese actor as she had in the past said she would not date someone from another country and that she also had no interest in dating an actor.

Chae Rim's last Korean drama was "Oh My Lady."
