Robert Downey Jr. News: Iron Man Star And Wife Expecting Third Child; Baby Girl Is Due In November
Robert Downey Jr. will be a dad for the third time around. The Iron Man star and his second wife, Susan Downey will be having their second child, and it's a baby girl.
The 49-year-old actor made the big announcement on Twitter on Wednesday, July 9. RDJ's tweet goes: "Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?" It will be the first little girl for the actor.
On his official Facebook page Robert Downey Jr. further confirmed the news. The actor posted, "Um. I don't know if it's a 'man's' world, but I'm certain women run it. Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl. November."
It was in 2010 when Downey Jr. and his wife had their first baby, Exton Elias Downey. Downey Jr. has a child, a son named Indio Downey with his first wife Deborah Falconer.
This is good news for the Avengers star after reports broke out that his son Indio was in trouble. The 20-year-old was arrested last June 29 for possession of cocaine. Downey Jr. released a statement that he and the entire family were getting help for Indio. The first step was to check him into a rehab facility in Malibu.
It will be recalled that Robert Downey Jr. himself figured in similar news in the past, with reports of the actor being filed with drug-related charges including marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.
After being dropped by TV and movie projects, and going through several rehab programs, Downey Jr's life began to turn around in a comeback role on Mel Gibson's 2003 movie The Singing Detective.
He also met his current wife Susan that year, who insisted that the actor become sober for good as a condition for them to get married. The actor cleaned up his act, and the couple were married in 2005.
