The Disney version of the fairytale "The Little Mermaid," added a happy ending to a fairy tale that originally ended sadly. Now there is going to be a k-drama version.

Will it be sad? Maybe. Only one thing is sure. It will be up to date. Instead of falling for a sailor, the mermaid in tvN's upcoming drama will fall for a man whose cell phone she finds in the watery depths of the Han River.

Actress Jo Bo Ah, who appeared in "Horse Doctor" and played the rich girl in "Shut Up Flower Boy Band," will play Ha Ni, the mermaid. She will live her life as a human while searching for the man she loves. That means she will have to face challenges mermaids don't usually have to bother with, like finding a job. Her days on land begin with a stay at Ingyeo House, a house for people preparing to land their first job. To become truly human, she only has a hundred days to make her crush fall in love with her.

The drama will also star Song Jae Rim, On Joo Wan, Park Ji Soo and Han So Young. Song Jae Rim, who was last seen in "Big Man," "Inspiring Generation" and "Two Weeks," plays Si Kyung, an arrogant employee of a big company. On Joo Wan, who appeared in the films "Obsessed" and "The Five" and the drama "The Blade and the Petal," plays Hyun Myung, a man who is getting ready for a job. Han So Young will play So Dae Ri. Han So Young's character works with Song Jae Rim but she is considered clumsy and unattractive.  Perhaps she will seem less clumsy compared to a woman who is not used to walking on legs.

Han So Young, who appeared in "Nail Shop Paris" and "Singles," has already filmed her first scene and said she was happy to be in the drama. Although it is a fantasy, she says it will show the real-life workplace for what it is.

"I hope to deliver the exhausting life of everyday working people through this drama," she said. "I am grateful for this opportunity and I will do my best."

Park Ji Soo, who appeared in the film "Mai Ratima," will play the charming Yoon Jin Ah.

Baek Seung Ryung, who produced "Rude Miss Young Ae, Season 10," will produce "the Mermaid." The first episode will air early in August."
