"Sam and Cat" will air its last episode on July 17, 2014 after wrapping up its first season, and despite garnering popular ratings.

According to the NY Daily news, "Sam and Cat" will air its last episode but Ariana Grande, 21, who plays Cat in the show, kept mum about the report until recently. She took to twitter last Sunday to air her views.

She explained that her decision to stay quiet was because she did not feel as if she were in the position to make any announcements back then.

In addition, she expressed her gratitude to Nickelodeon for fulfilling her ambitions and for accommodating and supporting her, as she divided her time between the show and her budding music career. On top of everything, she thanked them for giving her the break, which introduced her to many of her fans.

Grande mentioned heartfelt thanks to Dan Schneider and the rest of the cast, crew and fans of the"Sam and Cat" show. However, she did not thank or mentioned her co-star Jeanette McCurdy, 22, who shares the title role with her as Sam in the teen sitcom.

Before rumors about the show's probable cancellation started circulating, talks of conflict between the two lead stars and the network honchos surfaced. By April of this year, the two actresses were reported to have been feuding over issues involving their salaries.

Ariana Grande denied this, however, and clarified the issue on Twitter, claiming that she and Jennette McCurdy had an agreement that they get equal treatment in every aspect.

Aside from the wage issue, sources say that the cancellation of "Sam and Cat" could have also  been triggered by the racy selfie scandal involving Jennette McCurdy. This occurred in early March,  preceding rumors of her feud with Ariana Grande and others at Nickelodeon, and before the studio announced that "Sam and Cat" will air its last episode on July 17.

Jennette McCurdy made a no-show at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice award where she beat Grande for the "Favorite Actress" award, while the show itself received the "Favorite Show" trophy. She blamed the network for her absence, saying that their treatment of her drove her to boycott the ceremony.
