Gmail App on iOS and Android Gets Google Drive Integration; Users Now Allowed to Attach Drive Files to Gmail

Google Gmail app for iOS and Android will now be integrated with Google Drive to allow users to save and share documents and other files between the two Google applications.

Google's announcement of the Gmail-and-Google Drive integration was made separately for Android and iOS, however, both integration will allow users to share and attach files from Google Drive to a composed message in Gmail and enables recipients have access to the files.

According to Mashable, once a user composes a message in Gmail and wants to attach a file from the Google Drive storage, he may do so as a feature "Insert from Drive" is already available in the settings and options of Gmail. When one receives an e-mail containing a file attachment of any format, a "Save to Drive" option is ready to be tapped.

Gmail users may also manage access of others to the file they are sending. From a Google post by Simon Forsyth, a Software Engineer at Google, "if your file isn't shared with the person you're sending it to so you can change the sharing settings before you send it."

The integration of Google Drive also brings a new account management options for users who owns more than one Gmail account. According to Mashable, users can choose which accounts appear within the app while remaining signed onto the account elsewhere on their device.

Users may also notice auto-address completions so that users will no longer need to key in the complete email address of the person there are sending messages and files to, instead "just start typing in the To, Cc or Bcc field to see better suggestions, faster."

Google said that the updates are being rolled out over the next few days. Earlier, Gmail was integrated with 13 new languages to its language options and settings. Gmail is now supporting 71 languages.
