Jung Yong Hwa took a brief break from his preparations for his upcoming drama "Three Musketeers" to perform with his band CNBlue at KCON in Los Angeles. But now he is back on set, working hard to create his drama character and enjoying every minute of it.

On Aug. 12 he was present at the tvN drama's press conference and there he spoke about his character, Park Dal Hyang. His character is a poor man of noble birth, who becomes a member of the military guard. Park Dal Hyang serves Crown Prince So Hyun, played by Lee Jin Wook. But he is not just the prince's champion. He will also form a love triangle with the prince, as they are both in love with the woman played by Seo Hyun Jin. That woman was Park Dal Hyang's first love.

Jung Yong Hwa said that the director advised him to act hic character with his heart rather than his head. He followed that advice and threw himself completely into the character.

"I decided that I would throw my own personality away at that point," said Jung Yong Hwa. "I decided to take the plunge and really live inside this drama. Since I′ve done a lot of cool characters in the past, I decided to just enjoy it this time around."

That may be one reason he is so enjoying the experience of filming this drama.

"Maybe it′s because of that, but being on the filming set has become very enjoyable," he said. "We film all night long and end the outdoor scenes when the sun rises, but even if we′re filming like that, there′s a sense of fullness in my heart. I′m not struggling with it and the excitement is growing."

The fusion saeguk is loosely based on the Alexander Dumas novel, "The Three Musketeers" and Jung Yong Hwa plays the D'Artagnan of the group. The drama consists of three seasons with 12 episodes each. It also stars Yang Dong Geun, Jung Hae In and Yoon In Young. In the teasers, it looks as if the $10 million budget has been well spent on sets and costumes.

The series begins on August 17, following the completion of "High School King of Manners."

Jung Yong Hwa was last seen in the drama "Future's Choice," where he played Yoon Eun Hye's chaebol love interest. He previously appeared in the dramas "You're Beautiful," with Park Shin Hye and Jang Geun Suk, and also in "Heartstrings" again co-starring with Park Shin Hye.
