While everyone from Justin Timberlake, Ben Affleck, Mark Zuckerberg to George Bush has engaged in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The cause of the ice bucket challenge is even more meaningful to Buddy Valastro, his mom has Lou Gehrig's illness. In 2012, Buddy Valastro Mom's ALS is neurodegenerative that impinge on the nerves in the spinal cord and brain.

As for the conditions of his mother right now, she got bad days and she got good days. Buddy is having a hard time seeing his mother weaken and having a hard time dealing with her illness.

The Cake Boss star said, "You've gotta look at it [glass] half-full, we've been blessed," he says of his mother's condition, noting she's now in a wheelchair permanently. "The form of ALS my mom has, it's not really attacking her breathing or her speech. It's more of her limbs, so she can't really walk or move too much."

Buddy Valastro Mom ALS started the Mama Mary Foundation that helps people with ALS. When he discovered about the ice bucket challenge, he immediately participated, because he sees the illness' incapacitating impacts first hand and wants to raise awareness and more money. Carlo's Bakery owner took the challenge last week and nominated his employees, as well as his followers in Facebook and Twitter.

The most horrible part of the ALS is that one day the patients could brush her hair, write a letter, walk in the park, and eat with their two hands properly, then one day they will never be able to walk again. They can never do the basic functionalities of life once they are stricken by this illness.

But, Buddy Valastro's mom ALS never stop her from being his mom, she still yells at him, she still calls him and drives him a little crazy in the bakery, although, it is hard for the Cake Boss to see her suffer.
