Cee Lo Green Pleads No Contest In Ecstasy Case

Singer Cee Lo Green pleaded no contest Friday to slipping ecstasy to a woman two years ago, according to the NY Daily News.

"I plead no contest where I maintain my innocence," Green stated in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Judge Mark Young reportedly sentenced him to three years of probation and 360 hours of community service for the felony conviction. Green will reportedly be allowed to travel for work throughout his time on probation.

The "F**k You" singer will also be attending more than 50 drug and alcohol counseling sessions with a private therapist, according to Hip Hop DX.

The Associated Press reported that Cee Lo's no contest plea bars the charges from being used against him in civil court but if charged with another criminal drug offense may be revisited.

The 39-year-old "The Voice" judge "slipped" ecstasy to a 33-year-old woman while the two were dining at a sushi restaurant in July 2012, according to prosecutors. The woman allegedly recorded Green making reference to the incident in a later conversation, a law enforcement source told the Daily News.

She reportedly stated that she believed Cee Lo Green spiked her drink and that the "next thing" she remembered was waking up naked in her hotel room with him.

Prosecutors reportedly rejected a felony sexual assault charge in the case as his lawyer Blair Berk claimed the artist "had consensual sex with the woman he gave ecstasy to."

Cee Lo Green's community service work will take place at the MusiCares Foundation, an organization connected to the Grammy Awards.
