As the British hit drama's premiere for its upcoming season draws nearer and nearer, more promotional materials are being released online. The latest one is the brand new Downton Abbey Season 5 trailer that gives us an exciting sneak peek at all the scandals, explosive revelations and major changes that are about to shake things up at the Crawleys.
It will be recalled that the very first teaser that appeared for Downton Abbey's newest season appeared several months ago, and though it did not show much, it did carry an ominous warning that major changes were about to take place in the show. And today's just release Downton Abbey season 5 trailer does confirm this, with its teaser clips of things about to come.
Among the things we catch a glimpse of: another showdown between Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess of Grantham, and Penelope Wilton's Isobel Crawley, Tom Branson (Allen Leech) leaning in for a smooch, and Jimmy the footman's (Ed Speleers) caught in bed with a woman. There is also the line from the Early of Grantham (played by Hugh Bonneville) where he says, "Our grandchild is about to be stolen from us forever."
But the most shocking thing we see in this trailer, which lasts for just about a minute, is the fire that we see that rages in the Downton Abbey season 5 trailer. We see Tom Branson carrying the children, but we don't see much else.
Downton Abbey's premiere episode for this new season will be shown in ITV in late September to fans in the UK. However, American fans usually have to wait for a couple of months before seeing the Crawley family and their servants on the small screen.
Now, fans of the show in Britain will get a chance to watch the premiere episode even ahead of their neighbors when it screens at the cinemas this September.
The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, which is a charity that benefits all those who work behind the scenes in the British film and TV industry is working together with ITV and Carnival films, to put up this premiere screening of the show. All proceeds will go to the foundation, and the screening is expected to be graced by the show's creators and show's cast.
The screening will be held on September 17 at Empire Leicester Square.
