Lee Min Ho has finished work on his first film "Gangnam Blues" and already the speculation has started as to what he might do next. Will it be a drama? Or like quite a few former k-drama stars, will he switch over to film work for good?

He hasn't said yet and his decision may depend on the reception for his film. He did however say that making the film was meaningful for him.

"The journey lasting about four months and a half is finally over and I think it was the most meaningful project," he told enewsworld. "It is my first time taking the lead role in a film and I faced the new character named 'Jong Dae.' I was happy working with good cast and staff members."

He plays Kim Jong Dae. Together with a childhood friend, Kim Jong Dae gets caught up in the battle for power raging in the quickly developing Gangnam District. And they are on opposite sides of the battle. This conflict will test their friendship.

The noir film is set in the 70s when the neighborhood was not as glamorous as it is today. Although the lifestyles of wealthy Gangnam residents became known worldwide after Psy's hit record "Gangnam Style," it was not always a part of town populated by the ultra rich and movie stars.

"Gangnam Blues" is set at a time when political powers and criminal organizations engaged in a vicious battle over the neighborhood's valuable tracts of real estate.

Kim Rae Won plays Jong Dae's childhood friend Yong Ki. The film also stars Kim Ji Soo as Min Sung Hee and Kim Sul Hyun as Jong Dae's younger sister Kim Sun Hye.

Produced by m.o.v.e.r.a. Pictures, "Gangnam Blues" began filming in April 2014 and wrapped on Aug. 31. It is due to be released in December 2014. The film's director is Yoo Ha, who also directed the films "A Frozen Flower," "Once Upon A Time in High School" and "A Dirty Carnival."

Although several actors were interested in the role, Yoo Ha said he was particularly interested in having Lee Min Ho play the part, as he had the necessary charisma to pull it off.

Lee Min Ho has appeared in several successful dramas, including "The Heirs," "City Hunter," Faith: The Great Doctor," "Personal Taste" and "Boys Over Flowers."
