The Google Chrome VS Mozilla Firefox battle lives on and it seems that they constantly take turns in claiming the number 1 spot. But Firefox salutes Google for this one particular aspect. Read on!

A month ago, an authority on tech The Web Browser Grand Prix tallied up eight categories of testing, divided into performance and non-performance breakdown; and Mozilla Firefox won.

It was a close fight between Firefox and Chrome when it comes to Wait Times, JavaScript/DOM, HTML5/CSS3, and Hardware Acceleration. In fact it would have been a tie as they easily surpassed Opera Next, IE 10, and Opera.

However, Firefox took the crown with the nonperformance categories including Memory Efficiency, Reliability, Security, and Standards Conformance.

But with the recent release of Firefox 31, which highlights a search box on the new tab page and a Google-provided technology that prevents users from downloading malicious files, Mozilla has been transparent with the fact that Chrome's Safe Browsing feature always had a huge advantage.

This is due to the fact that Google has never documented the application programming interface for outsiders, hence efficiently blocking untrusted sites and incipient downloads. With this, Mozilla remarked "Google has offered an application reputation feature to detect malicious downloads as part of Google Safe Browsing since 2012,"

"Of the 327 URLs that the release version of [Firefox 31] did not catch, Chrome caught 286 of them."

On the other hand, Chrome 37 in beta was recently released as well, demonstrating the shift from GDI to DirectWrite API.

"Chrome 37 adds support for DirectWrite, an API on Windows for clear, high-quality text rendering even on high-DPI displays," The Chronium Blog notes.

You can download the updated versions of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome from their respective sites.
