This year's family movie has finally hit the theater last September 19. "This is Where I Leave You" starring Jason Bateman, Connie Britton, Tina Fey, and Jane Fonda, is based on best-selling novel by Jonathan Tropper about the lives of Altman family.

Bateman, Fey, Adam Driver, and Corey Stoll play as siblings in this comedy-drama film. The four siblings don't hang out, but they have to gather in the wake of their father to fulfill his dying wish.

Their father, who is an atheist, wishes that his children come home to observe Shiva - a 7-day period of mourning. This also means seeing their mother, played by Fonda, who they like less.

What others say about the film? Here are the reviews of Screenrant, Los Angeles Times, and Cinema Blend as published at Hollywood Life.

Screenrant said, "What ultimately pushes 'This is Where I Leave You' to excellence is the chemistry of the ensemble cast. Bateman's deadpan everyman persona works well when surrounded by such strong co-stars; Fey's feisty wit is as sharp as ever; and Stoll is good at playing unlikable. The biggest scene-stealers, however, are 'Girls' star Adam Driver and Jane Fonda, who can count many of the movie's most hilarious and/or emotional moments between them.

Los Angeles Times also left a review on the movie, saying, "I can't think of a family I'd rather sit shiva with than the Altmans of 'This is Where I Leave You'. They bury their father, Mort, pun no doubt intended, with the right mix of tears and unearthed resentments, and they take the blows life hands them seriously enough but in stride. As if they are nothing special. This is exactly the charm of Jonathan Troppers' novel on which the comedy-drama is based."

"But best of all, this ensemble sizzles together, exchanging barbs and blows with verve and nerve. There's nothing overly daring going on here, but 'This is Where I Leave You' is an engaging and fun exploration of the dynamics of the ties that bind and sometimes gag," told by Cinema Blend.
