Sugar has been identified as one of the major causes of tooth decay among children by Public Health England. We think that Coca-Cola contains enormous amount of sugar. But, are we aware that fruit juices contain more sugar than Coke?

According to the Public Health England director of dental public health, Dr. Sandra White, most parents were giving toddlers and babies fruit juices without knowing they contain sugar. Her study found that 1/3 of all children suffers from tooth decay by the age of three.

She recommended parents to only give water or milk to children until three years of age and avoid using sipping cups or bottle for any drinks that have sugar.

Dr White said was now the biggest culprit is fruit juice behind the alarming levels of cavities in many parts of London.

Some drinks makers have began to lessen the amount of sugr in drinks that caters children. The owner of Fruit Shoots, Britvit, stopped making full-sugar drinks since summer of this year.

On the other hand, consumers do not realize the great level of sugar in fruit juice, particularly those found in the supermarkets' chiller cabinets.
