According to TV by the Numbers, "Delivering an improved 82% lead-in retention week to week in the 9:30pm half-hour (vs. 71% last week), ABC's 'Black-ish' was #1 in its slot with Adults 18-49 (2.8/8). The new ABC comedy was up from its week-ago Fast Affiliate rating in Adults 18-49 (+12% - 2.8/8 vs. 2.5/7).  The new show improved its half-hour year to year by 12% in Adults 18-49 (2.5/7 for Super Fun Night on 10/9/13)."

The comedy series started strong as it gained 10.8 million viewers. ABC is too happy for the outcome that it has given full-season order of the hit comedy. It will now have a total of 22 episodes - good news for its million viewers.

The "Black-ish" season 1 episode 4 spoilers released by ABC read: "When Dre agrees to take over Rainbow's 'mom' duties for a week, the overwhelming praise he gets from everyone at his kids' school goes to his head. He soon finds himself pushing the envelope to outdo everyone - even the school's 'crazy mom'."
