‘Divergent’ Full Movie: Shailene Woodley Is Tough As ‘Tris’ In This Sci-Fi Film; 'Divergent' Is Not 'The Twilight Saga' And 'The Hunger Games'

This sci-fi movie earned $54,607,747 in the opening weekend, ending the 'curse' on each YA film adaptation. Check the other box-office figures of "Divergent": Its total domestic gross is $150,947,895. Worldwide, it earned $288,722,997. It had a total production cost of $130,000,000.
"Divergent" is different from "The Twilight Saga" and "The Hunger Games". The movie "breaks new ground in the YA genre". According to The Week, "Bella had to give up her humanity to be a hero, and Katniss' heroism was manufactured and dismantled - but Tris' heroic arc in 'Divergent' is fueled by her humanity. Tris chooses to become strong, to fight, and ultimately, how she will live her life. She doesn't have to become superhuman, and she isn't destroyed by political manipulation. She is, in a word, divergent."
If you have read the "Divergent" book written by Veronica Roth, you'll realize that the full movie tried to stay close to the story but it had made quite a few differences:
- Marcus' dark ways are disclosed near the beginning
- Nobody suffers from death on the first jump after choosing
- The Aptitude Test is made short
- The particular scene when Tris is attacked is subdued
- Edward doesn't get his eyes poked out by Peter
But do not worry because these changes are made so the film will fit to the big screen and will be appreciated by the moviegoers.
Shailene Woodley's role in "Divergent" is a lot different from her role in "The Fault In Our Stars". You may think that how were she able to do justice to her character as 'Tris' when she looks too fragile as 'Hazel', here's what her co-star Theo James has to say: "Shai's empowered - she's a strong actress and intuitive. She's not like a 'girl' in the Hollywood sense. Once there was a complex stunt we had to do-running next to this train and jumping on and off. She fell off the train and smacked her' head. But she was up five minutes later, going, 'I'm good'."
