Actor Christian Bale might be next in line to play Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic.

Less than two weeks after Leonardo DiCaprio dropped out of the project, Sony is reportedly beginning negotiations with "The Fighter" actor, according to The Hollywood Reporter

The option for Bale to play Steve Jobs reportedly opened up after negotiations with Fox for the actor to star in "The Deep Blue Goodbye" didn't pan out. Even if a deal is reached with the previous project, Christian Bale would still reportedly have the option to play Steve Jobs before shooting "The Deep Blue Goodbye."

The screenplay of the untitled Jobs biopic is reportedly based on Walter Isaacson's book and has been adapted by Aaron Sorkin. The movie was originally going to be directed by David Fincher, but will now be directed by Danny Boyle, according to the media outlet Coming Soon

Sorkin has given details regarding the biopic, stating that the film will be divided into three long scenes, each taking place backstage before one of Apple's product launches, according to the Boston Herald

"The first one being the Mac. The second one being NeXT, after he had left Apple. And the third one being the iPod," Sorkin told the Daily Beast.

He added, "It's a little like writing about the Beatles. There are so many people out there that know him and revere him."
