They've been seen in public everywhere in Los Angeles, and they're certainly not shy about their relationship. It does look like Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are going strong, and news has come out today that they are taking their relationship to the next level by adopting!

Adopting a kitten that is! The Hollywood couples recently adopted a tiny kitten and Nikki Reed lost no time in posting the adorable photo on Instagram. Nikki shared the photo on her Instagram account last October 15 with the caption, "Went to the animal shelter today to give some love to the babies living in cages who don't have homes and ended up adopting this little girl! What should we name her?" 

It seems like the adoption was a really a team effort between Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, with the Vampire Diaries actor re-posting the photo on his Twitter account with this caption: "The newest addition to the family!Holy s-t this little GIRL is amazing! PLEASE Adopt Adopt Adopt."

The two have been an item since Ian Somerhalder broke up with his then girlfriend, Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev. And though they've come under fire from fans of the Ian-Nina team-up from their popular TV series, Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have remained strong. Ian even went so far as to address the haters of their relationship, who post their negativity on the stars' social media accounts.

"You HATE NIKKI REED? Really? Do you know her? Hmmmm, I'm not sure that you do. Look on her Instagram feed or and all you will see is a compassionate and beautiful human being," Ian  wrote on his Instagram account. "Please put your negative energy elsewhere. You don't even know the person you're talking about."

"Stop this nonsense-you're spreading horrible energy into the world. Do some research of the person you say sucks or you HATE. You'll find that she's a magical person doing great things in the world," the actor continued.
