Joan Rivers news reported the official autopsy results that revealed the real reason behind the "Fashion Police" host's untimely death.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy icon died from lack of oxygen.

The detailed statement from the New York City medical examiner rep Julie Bolcer read: "OCME [Office of the Chief Medical Examiner] has completed its investigation. The cause of Ms. Rivers' death is anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease. The manner of death is therapeutic complication."

"The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy," the statement added.

The 46-year-old daughter of Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, responded to the autopsy results by releasing a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. She said: "We continue to be saddened by our tragic loss and grateful for the enormous outpouring of love and support from around the world. We have no further comment at this time."

Even the Department of Health issued a statement about Joan Rivers autopsy news. The statement read: "The State Department of Health (DOH) has completed its investigation of Yorkville Endoscopy and has forwarded its findings to the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Any questions regarding the status of the final determination should be directed to CMS."

Following Joan Rivers news about her autopsy findings, Yorksville Endoscopy also released a short statement, reported by The Hollywood Reporter.: "HIPAA [privacy] laws prevent us from disclosing any information regarding patients."

Prior to the release of the autopsy results, Joan Rivers news announced that Melissa Rivers will be suing the doctor responsible for the alleged medical malpractice that caused her mother's untimely death.

According to the report from Daily Mail, the distraught daughter is moving forward with the lawsuit to be filed against Dr. Gwen Korovin. The doctor allegedly performed an unscheduled biopsy on Joan Rivers, and is still treating other patients amid accusations of medical malpractice.

A friend of Melissa Rivers said: "It's very difficult to discuss something so unpleasant with her, but she is going to launch a lawsuit."
