For the first time ever, the world can now see some exclusive photos of Elizabeth Taylor's wedding to Larry Fortensky at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch back in 1991.
Sadly for the famous actress, it was the eighth and final trip that she would ever make down the aisle.
These photos were released by the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation to the press. It was the most media-saturated wedding in Hollywood history, dated October 21st, 1991.
In the pictures, Taylor, consistently blushing, was dressed in a pale yellow Valentino gown that was worth $25,000. It was a gift from Valentino himself. The price of the gown may not sound much today, unlike Amal Alamuddin's and Angelina Jolie's gowns, but the amount was highly expensive at the time.
Elizabeth Taylor was very close with the late Michael Jackson, who was the host of her 1991 wedding. The reception only had 160 guests, all of whom were high profile personalities. The wedding was held on the "Beat It" singer's 2,700-acre estate on Santa Ynez Valley, California.
Being a high profile event with huge celebrities, around a dozen helicopters kept hovering overhead. In fact, an extremely brave paparazzo even parachuted into the ceremony just to get some exclusive photos of the event. The photographer landed 20 feet from the bride and groom, both very shocked that a gatecrasher managed to pull such stunt.
Taylor, who was 59 when the photos were taken, was photographed sharing laughs with an upbeat Jackson under a gazebo that was draped with gardenias.
One of Taylor's ex-husbands, Eddie Fisher, was confident then that her marriage to Fortensky "should last because it's the first time Liz has married a regular guy." Sadly, however, the couple had a divorce only five years into their marriage.
Elizabeth Taylor died of congestive heart failure on March 23rd of 2011 at the age of 79, while Jackson died on June 25th of 2009. Fortensky, who is now 62, still resides in California. According to him, he and his ex-wife managed to remain friends after they separated.
