As we near the screening of the third and last installment of The Hobbit, fans are all the more excited about how the battle scenes are going to play out. Even if the book by J.R.R. Tolkien on which the trilogy is based on, is a really slim novel, director Peter Jackson and his team have been able to make quite an impressive two films so far -- leading many fans to believe that the third one, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies full movie will be the best one yet.

Director Peter Jackson recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly in his promotional rounds for The Hobbit 3, and in this interview, he revealed just how big, and spectacular the final, important battle scene of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies full movie. Jackson shared that the battle scene will include 45 minutes of pure epic fighting where different creatures get involved in a battle over the treasure of Erebor that the dragon Smaug has been hoarding and guarding for years. The director shares that the filming was especially challenging because of the details involved in having different creatures fighting it out with each other.

"We have dwarves and men, and elves and orcs, all with different cultures, with different weapons, and different shields and patterns and tactics," Jackson said. The director even shared a chart that showed just how everything will come into play in this epic battle scene for The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies full movie, which will include eagles! "Tolkien uses eagles in a way that can be kind of awkward because they tend to show up out of the blue and change things pretty quickly. So here they're just part of the plan, not the saviors. I mean, I do realize that if the eagles had just been able to bring Frodo to Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings and let him drop the ring in, those movies would have been much shorter."

To find out just exactly what role these eagles will play now in The Hobbit The Battle Of The Five Armies full movie, watch out for it in theaters on December 17!
