U2 Tonight Show: Bono And Band To Play Five Nights On Jimmy Fallon's Show, While Metallica Does Craig Ferguson; Plus How Will Jimmy Kimmel Top This?

After their album Songs Of Innocence was made available on iTunes for free, which was surprise welcome move for most of their fans, U2 is now making headlines again. This time the Irish rock band has reportedly been booked for a weeklong performance in Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show. Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton will be performing nightly on the show as special musical guest starting November 17.

"U2 is coming back Monday, November 17, for an entire week," Jimmy Fallon announced on his show las Monday night. It will be recalled that U2 in The Tonight Show is not an entirely new thing. They actually graced the very first episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this year, where they performed their songs "Invisible," and "Ordinary Love." At that time, Bono and the rest of U2 talked about the plans and the preparations, and all the work that was going on in their newest album. Little did everyone know that when the album dropped, it would be free and it would be available for download on iTunes.

U2 on The Tonight Show is just the latest in the string of big name bands that have been booked for an extended period of time in America's talk shows. Earlier last week, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson confirmed that Metallica would be performing five straight nights on the show. Prior to that, Late Show With David Letterman had the Foo Fighters for one whole week on his talk show to promote their new album and brand new show premiering on HBO.

The band is expected to promote the songs on their brand new album during this five day stint. Meanwhile, there is no word yet from the camp of Jimmy Kimmel as to how they will answer to these huge musical acts and their weeklong residency in the late shows. In any case, the viewers are the clear winner on this one.
