Lee Kwang Soo is filling up his schedule. As well as his regular appearances on the variety show "Running Man" the actor and entertainer is penciling in plenty of drama and film roles. He recently finished playing Park Soo Kwang, a character with Tourette's Syndrome in the drama "It's Okay, It's Love," as well as taking on a two-episode role in the drama special "Secret Love." Last year he had roles in two films, "Confession" and "Five Siblings In Deoksu Village."

This year he will play a boy who becomes a fish in an upcoming fantasy film titled "Mutant."

One of his co-stars in this film will be his good friend, actress Park Bo Young, who was last seen in "Wolf Boy." The other will be Lee Chun Hee, who played the "Master" in the recent drama "Dating Agency Cyrano."

In "Mutant" Lee Chun Hee plays a university graduate who wants to be a reporter. He needs a great story to help impress the world and establish his reputation. He reads a strange story online about a boy who turns into a fish and he immediately wants to investigate. The boy's girlfriend supposedly posted the story. And perhaps even odder than the fact that the boy became a fish, the girl continues to love him in his new form.

Naturally, Lee Chun Hee's character has to investigate what might be a career-making headline or turn out to be a well-crafted fraud. And while the reporter's focus may be on whether the story is true and why the transformation happened, he is sure to learn a lesson about true love in the process.

Lee Kwang Soo will play the mysterious boy-turned-fish. Park Bo Young will play the woman who still loves him after he develops scales. After writing the story, she becomes known as "fish girl" even though she remains human.

The film's director Kwon Oh Gwang only has a few short films to his credit but he did win a Short Film Palme d'Or award for his short film "Safe" at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

"The Mutant" was selected through the CJ E&M Butterfly Project competition. The competition accepts script entries from young directors and provides production funding to the winners. Previous Butterfly Project competition winners include the 2013 film "Steel Cold Winter," which starred starring Kim Shi Hoo and Kim Yoon Hye.

"Mutant" begins filming in November.
