The movie released by Paramount racked a total of $17M in the US at the Friday box office. By the looks of it, the movie is off to a good start given that moviegoers will continue to buzz about the flick after watching it.

So what is "Interstellar" full movie about? Here is a short film description from Google:

"With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars."

IGN was able to sit with and talk to writer Jonathan Nolan on some details about the movie. Read the whole interview here.

When asked about their attempts at staying true and consistent with proven scientific facts and theories throughout the movie, Nolan had this to share:

"When you're doing a film called Interstellar, at some point -- the idea was to be grounded in the science as much as possible -- but with a name like Interstellar, you had better go somewhere big and bold. The nice thing about a black hole is, nobody actually knows what's on the event horizon. So the idea that it might be a place and the sequence that plays out there is a metaphor for -- and it was really the theme of the film -- the connection between human beings, right? The connection between us and our kids and us and our parents and the fragility of that. It's no coincidence that it's a bookcase that is the symbol for that sequence in the film, because there's no better symbol for the repository of information passed down from one generation to the next. Look at anyone's bookcase at home, no matter how modest, and you're going to find a book that contains wisdom or ideas or a language that's at least a thousand years old. And the idea that humans have created a mechanism to time travel, to hurl ideas into the future, it sort of bookends. Books are a time machine."
