Rain who is a singer and actor that is currently serving in the military, was admitted in the hospital because he might have a herniated disc.

On the 24th, according to the a spokesperson for the public relations sector of the Department of National Defense, Rain was supposed to be the judge for "Be The Star", an audition show for military personnel in Choong Nam's Gyeryong city at the Culture and Arts Hall, but he was unable to participate.

On the night of the 23rd, he suddenly had back pain and under the permission of the army surgeon, he was transferred to Jigoodae Hospital nearby. The military spokesperson said, "He was closely examined before being admitted. He is now undergoing treatment. It is likely that he has a herniated disc, but the exact diagnosis will probably have to wait until after the treatment result."

It is likely that Rain will be unable to participate in the event planned for the Armed Forces' Day on the 25th. There is a lot of attention on whether Rain will get a disability discharge. In general, if a solider gets a herniated disc while in the military, the solider will receive treatment at a private hospital or if it is really severe, the solider will get a disability discharge from the military.

However, a representative of Rain said, "I believe that his [back pain] is not so severe that it will affect his military service. More than anything, he wants to make sure to complete his active military duty."

Rain joined the military last October and was serving as an instructor at the 5th Division Army Recruit Training Center.  However, he requested to change assignments this past March and passed the interview to become a part of the public relations sector of the Department of National Defense.

As part of the Military Broadcasting FM, Rain performed several times on like "Consolatory Train".

In April, he performed at the invitation concert for the 20th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations. In May, he appeared on stage for an event during Children's Day. In June, he was able to meet with the audience during the Yeo Su Expo when there was a special K-Pop concert that was hosted by public relations sector of the Department of National Defense.
