‘Iron Man 4’ Rumors: Robert Downey Jr. To Be Replaced By ‘Jurassic World’ Actor! Ty Simpkins Says, ‘Harley Can Take Over Tony Stark When He Gets Older’
When Robert Downey Jr. said that he won't be returning for "Iron Man 4", it started out rumors that they will get a younger actor to replace him. Some people thought that the new star will be in his 20s or 30s, but it looks like he is way younger than that - let's say around 13 years old.
This is just a theory, but Tony Stark could be replaced by Harley Keener, who appeared in "Iron Man 3". If this pushes through, then the new star of the fourth installment could be the "Jurassic World" actor Ty Simpkins. Based on the comics, there's a lot of similarity between Tony Stark and the young boy.
According to Marvel Wikia, "Harley is much like Tony in his childhood; his father left his family when he was little, forcing Harley to become the man of the family." The website added, "He was also quite smart for his age, building a potato gun that was later upgraded by the Armored Avenger.
During an interview with Ty Simpkins, the teenager spilled out some details that backed up the latest "Iron Man 4" rumors. The "Insidious" star was asked by I Am Rogue if Harley's attitude was in the script or if he just improvised that.
He said, "It said that I was cocky, like a younger Tony Stark. In The Avengers there is sort of this relationship between Captain America and Tony, where they are fighting and then they are friends. So we did that. Where he would throw something at me and I would give it right back to him. We would get into funny arguments and then after that be friends."
Ty Simpkins was also asked about his character's relationship with Tony Stark. He said, "Well they are both similar and like I said before, the Tony Stark/Captain America relationship was very similar." The website asked the teen star the question that most fans wanted to know - and that is if Robert Downey Jr.'s character will continue to be Iron Man and the possibility of Harley taking over his role.
He said, "Yea, I guess so, maybe not the same as Iron Man but something close to that. That would be pretty cool. Maybe if Tony Stark is over with being a super hero, because it kind of seemed like that, then Harley could take over when he gets older or build his own Iron Man suit. Well, I'm not sure if they are going to do a Iron Man 4 but maybe in The Avengers 2, and if not, then Iron Man 4."
