Lee Bo Young Makes Donation To Children's Charity

Actress Lee Bo Young recently made a noteworthy donation to a children's charity. She donated a little more than $90,000 to help pediatric cancer patients at the Seoul National University Cancer Hospital.

She wanted to keep the donation a secret said her agency Will Entertainment, but word got out. The agency was asked to confirm the news.

"It is true," said a representative from Will Entertainment. "She donated money for pediatric cancer patients.

It's not the first time that Lee Bo Young has donated to or worked on behalf of a charity organization but the recipients of her generosity may now favor children's charities. Lee Bo Young and her husband actor Ji Sung are expecting this first child in July.

 "She was interested in child patients and her pregnancy influenced her donation, too," said the Will Entertainment representative.

Lee Bo Young last played a mother who is given a second change to save her child in the 2014 drama "God's Gift - 14 Days." At the time she remarked that the role was good preparation for motherhood.

But long before she thought about becoming a mother, the actress contributed to several charity efforts. She has actively promoted the United Nations children's charity UNICEF since 2008. As a UNICEF goodwill ambassador she has taken part in variety of charity events. She performed volunteer work in Mongolia and appeared in environmental advertising campaigns. She participated in recording audio books for the visually impaired. She is also a spokesperson for the Korea Forest Service, which promotes environmental protection.

In 2013, she donated around $10,000 to children in the Democratic Republic of Congo and together with her husband she donated to the Seungil Hope Foundation as part of the Ice Bucket Challenge to fight ALS.

The actress is not currently working on any drama or film projects. According to her agency she will spend the next few months focusing on her pregnancy.

"She has no official activities for the time being," said the Will representative. "Her agency will also support Lee Bo Young so that she may have a safe and easy delivery."

Lee Bo Young and Ji Sung first met in 2004 when they appeared in the drama "Save The Last Dance For Me." They went public with their relationship in 2007 and married in 2013.

Lee Bo Young is best known for her roles in the dramas "My Daughter Seo Young" and "I Hear Your Voice."
