The Romance Between Park Min Young, Ji Chang Wook Heats Up On ‘Healer’

BY Adrienne Stanley | Jan 26, 2015 12:36 PM EST

Love is in the air on episode fifteen of the KBS2 drama “Healer,” as Park Bong Soo (Ji Chang Wook) turns to Chae Young Shin (Park Min Young) for comfort following the death of his guardian turned mentor, Ki Young Jae (Oh Gwang Rok). Young Jae sacrificed himself to protect the true identity of the Healer. While he is initially driven by revenge, Bong Soo makes the difficult decision to refrain from violence and retreats to his home. His absence is noticed by Young Shin, who becomes increasingly concerned.

The romance between Bong Soo and Young Shin reaches its boiling point when she locates the secret residence of the Healer. She is concerned about Bong Soo’s well-being, after slowly acknowledging his true identity.

In an earlier episode, Young Shin discovered the secrets behind Bong Soo’s true identity as the Healer or Seo Jung Hoo, after finding his injured body on a rooftop.

While he was hospitalized, Young Shin has a phone conversation with his conspirator and hacker extraordinaire, Min Ja (Kim Mi Kyung). Since her role as Cha Eun Sung’s deaf mother in “The Heirs,” Kim Mi Kyung has explored characters who have richer depth, who are more empathetic than Sung Ran in “Master’s Sun.” Min Ja creates a scenario where she reaches out to Young Shin, after she becomes frustrated by futile attempts to contact Jung Hoo.

After Young Shin makes her way through the labyrinth of his warehouse loft, she finds the Healer is in great need of her help. To comfort him she struggles to cook the few dishes she is able to prepare. He attempts to kick her out of his makeshift loft but is thwarted by her desire to remain by his side. Young Shin and the Healer exchange half-hearted banter before engaging in a lengthy kiss which leads to a morning-after scene.

From the moment she enters his loft, both characters behave like adults in a way that is rarely portrayed in Korean drama. Rather than sharing an awkward morning-after, Young Shin cares for Jung Hoo's wounds while he helps her dry her hair once she finishes showering.

“Healer” has presented several adorable drama moments leading up to this culmination of romance between the two lead characters. The chemistry between Park Min Young and Ji Chang Wook continues to simmer, making “Healer” a captivating Korean drama.
