With Samsung's confirmed plans to release its new flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S6, during the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Apple Inc.'s much-touted products, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, could see its sales begin to dwindle.

Rumors of a new Samsung smartphone to compete with Apple's iPhones have been around for a while since Samsung Galaxy S5 failed to ramp up to expectations. The Samsung Galaxy 5 was unveiled at last year's MWC.

Dubbed Project Zero, reports confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is about to be unwrapped, and that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will piggyback on its sibling smartphone's release.

Sammobile reported, "it can confirm" that the next Galaxy flagship will be called Galaxy S6. The publication has also learned that Samsung, similar to the lines of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and limited edition Galaxy Note Edge, will launch the Galaxy S6 Edge alongside the Galaxy S6.

Details about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are sparse, but it is likely to have a single-sided curved screen similar to the Samsung Note Edge. Tech watchers say that the big shift in design to a curved edge screen might have been inspired Samsung's high demand for "curved screen TVs."

"The S6 will reportedly feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, a 20-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras," Express.co.uk reported. "The phone's battery could also feature a way of charging wirelessly, which will bring four hours of usage with just 10 minutes charge."

According to NDTV, "Galaxy S6 is said to be powered by 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor (four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores), while another variant featuring a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor is expected."

The South Korean electronics giant has send out press invites for its "Galaxy Unpacked" event at MWC in Barcelona on Mar. 1. A tagline on the invite reads, “What’s Next,” accompanied by a silhouette of curve. The teaser suggests big changes in design for the Samsung Galaxy S6 from its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
