What K-Dramas Will Premiere in January and What To Expect. Part 1

As the new year has come, new K-Dramas will also come to make our lives a little better. January will bring more k-dramas to add to our list.

January's forte will be “Yawang” also known as the “Queen Of Ambition”. A drama where ambition, anger, betrayal, greed, and power will be its main course, but don't let this discourage you, the drama is far from a disappointment.

Starring Kwon Sang Woo, Soo Ae, U-Know Yunho, Kim Sung Ryung, and Go Joon Hee. This drama will be about Joo Da Hae (Soo Ae), a woman who will do anything to forget about her humble and poor past, as she tries to become the first lady. Ha Ryu (Kwon Sang Woo) is the man who will do and sacrifice anything, for Joo Da Hae. The love triangle forms with Baek Do Hoon (U-Know Yunho) a hockey player, who is deeply in love with Joo Da Hae.

So why is this drama gathering so much attention? Well because for once, Soo Ae will play a woman who is thirsty for money, instead of the docile, cute, and nice type, she is known to play. Also it is Kwon Sang Woo's comeback to the small screen since 2010. (Who didn't fall in love with him in “Stairway to Heaven”?) One big plus this drama has is, U-Know Yunho from boy group DSBK. As K-pop is a big thing nowadays, having him in the drama will draw many K-pop fans and that means more ratings.

“Yawang” will be a Monday-Tuesday drama that will start airing -next week- January 14th, at 9:55 PM (KST) on SBS.

Next in our list is “Level 7 Civil Servant”. This drama will be the remake of the the 2009 movie “My Girlfriend Is An Agent”. The drama will be about two secret agents, hiding their true identities from each other.

Han Gil-Ro (Joo Won) is a secret agent at the NIS (National Intelligence Service). Someone who has dreamed of being a secret agent since he was child, when he saw the James Bond movies. He is kind, open minded, and very hard working. His love interest will be Kim Seo Weon (Choi Kang Hee), the daughter of a poor farmer who has economy difficulties. She has a lot of jobs in order to pay her university loans. She's a strong woman who has the ability to survive, due to her experience in life. The drama will also feature Uhm Tae-Woong as Choi Woo Hyuk and Chansung from 2PM as Kong Do Ha.

To be honest no one is expecting the drama, to be as good as the movie, but we have to give it the benefit of the doubt. And as a big fan of Joo Won, I am excited to see this drama. Choi Kang Hee got a love last year for her funny role in “Protecting The Boss”, so people is expecting a lot from her. Of course this drama have the “acting idol” that we all love. In this case, Chansung from 2PM will do us the honor.
“Level 7 Civil Servant” will be a Wednesday-Thursday drama and it will start airing on January 23rd, at 9:55 PM (KST) on MBC.
