Magazine Says Kim Hyun Joong And Girlfriend Made Up And Are Expecting A Baby

According to the March issue of the Korean magazine "Woman Sense," Kim Hyun Joong has made up with the girlfriend that previously accused him of assault and the couple is expecting a child.

The article said that the singer-actor and his two-year-older girlfriend are having a child in September.

"The pregnant girlfriend is the non-celebrity girlfriend who previously filed charges against Kim Hyun Joong for assault and battery."

The girlfriend, identified by the magazine as Ms. Choi, is said to be 10 weeks pregnant. The magazine quoted a source that is supposedly close to the couple as saying that the two peacefully reconciled and that the parents on both sides are discussing marriage plans and the baby's future.

Kim Hyun Joong's agency has yet to confirm this news. In an official statement on the matter a representative from his agency said that they found out about the events through the news and will need to investigate further before they can confirm the details.

Kim and Choi first met in April 2012 when they were introduced through a mutual friend. The assault charges were filed in 2014 after they had dated for two years. The first assaults allegedly took place in May and July of 2014. In August Choi submitted a complaint to the police as well as supporting medical records and photographs. She alleged ongoing abuse. Speaking through his agency, Kim Hyun Joong acknowledged that the couple had one fight that got physical but said that there was no pattern of abuse.

Early in September of 2014, Kim Hyun Joong was questioned by the police and repeated the claim that there was only one incident in which he became violent. On Sept. 15, 2014 he released a letter of apology on his official website. Kim Hyun Joong is said to have personally apologized as well. Two days later Choi dropped the charges. However, having admitted to one incident of physical violence, the police had no alternative but to forward the case to prosecution.

According to the Korean media outlet Dispatch, Kim kept in contact with Choi during the investigation and that led to reconciliation. By November he was already planning a surprise event for her birthday. In December the couple went to Jeju Island for a Christmas vacation.

Kim Hyun Joong is the leader and main rapper of the boy band SS501. As an actor he is best known for his roles in "Boys Over Flowers," "Playful Kiss" and "Inspiring Generation."
