Kim Hyun Joong's Ex Confirms Pregnancy

According to the Korean media outlet The Korea Herald, Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend has confirmed her pregnancy.

The ex, whose last name is Choi, confirmed the news through a legal representative.

"Choi is pregnant and there is enough evidence to prove it."

The Korean magazine Woman Sense was the first to release the story that the singer-actor's ex was pregnant but they also wrote that the couple had made up. Kim Hyun Joong denied any reunion. He also said he had no plans to marry her but added that he would be responsible for the pregnancy. Only, he said he had been unable to contact her to confirm the pregnancy.

The news came as a shock because the ex-girlfriend sued Kim for assault only months earlier. In August 2014 she filed charges against him for repeated incidences of physical abuse. He said they had one fight that got violent but denied the other incidents. Choi asked for his apology and when he did apologize, she dropped the charges. He did have to pay a fine for the one incident of violence that he agreed happened.

Following the magazine release, the Korean media outlet Dispatch published a timeline showing that the couple met on several occasions after the charges were dropped. According to the Dispatch, Kim planned a special event for Choi's birthday in November and the couple vacationed on Jeju Island in December.

Although Kim Hyun Joong previously said that he was unable to contact her to confirm the pregnancy, Choi's legal representative said that she told him in January. Not only that but they had been in contact since she first told him. They even met in person. Choi's lawyer related that she was hurt by his saying he was not sure.

"Choi was greatly shocked by Kim's claims that he was not sure about her pregnancy. She is now going through difficult times."

Choi said that Kim wanted her to go for a medical check-up but she refused.

On February 24, Kim Hyun Joong released another statement through his agency, Key East, saying that he was in no way denying her pregnancy.

"We just wanted to clarify the situation by confirming it."

According to the latest statement by the agency, Choi did send the singer ultrasound pictures in January. After that Kim, his father and an acquaintance met twice with her and asked to go for a checkup.

"Kim Hyun Joong is fully willing to take responsibility for the child," said the Key East representative. "It is common practice to visit the hospital when a mother is pregnant to check on both the child and the mother's condition. It's natural for Kim Hyun Joong and his parents to want to know whether or not Choi and the child are well."
