ZOMBIE MAMMA'S DRAMA REVIEW: Hyde, Jekyll and I Episodes 13-14

I wish I could say this week's episodes were a real treat to watch but I can't. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they're the most disappointing of the entire series. That's not to say there weren't moments of excitement, because there were, rather I'm disappointed in some of the characters and their rather childish behavior.

Maybe I'm expecting too much from our hero but I really wish he'd act more like a hero and less like a kicked puppy. I mean I get that Seo Jin and Robin are both struggling with a lot of issues right now but that doesn't mean they have to get all sullen and mopey and jealous and petty, especially not at such a crucial time. If they want to cat-fight over Ha Na that's fine but can't they wait until things have finally been resolved with Dr. Yoon and his crazy, dangerous schemes? Don't they realize that when they focus on fighting each other, they're left open and vulnerable to attack from the outside? One would think they'd have learned their lesson on this by now but apparently they haven't. Despite the fact that when they work together they can accomplish amazing things (like, I don't know... uncovering Dr. Yoon's true identity, which was totally awesome, by the way) they seem more focused on fighting each other for the control that comes with being the main identity and that's just so darn frustrating. When is Robin going to realize that he's not in control, he's never been in control and he's never going to exist outside of Seo Jin? More than that, when is Robin going to admit that he's more of a threat to Ha Na than Seo Jin will ever be? It's through Robin that Terry makes his appearances and Ha Na will never be truly safe while Terry lurks in the background. It seems to me that Ha Na is in much better hands when she's with Seo Jin but she refuses to accept that truth because she insists that she only loves Robin.

I think this is what bothers me the most out of this whole weird, love-triangle thing, the fact that Ha Na can freely admit to loving Robin but is hesitant with Seo Jin, and turns a blind eye when it comes to Terry. It's like she's selectively choosing to love only the noble parts of Seo Jin's character rather than loving him as a whole. The truth is, Robin and Terry are both a physical embodiment of different sides of Seo Jin's character which means by only loving one part, Ha Na isn't actually loving the man as a whole. You can't truly love a person if you choose to only love the warm, fluffy parts. To love someone means to love them on the good days and their bad, to accept the beautiful and the ugly and to love it all equally. I know that this is hard for Ha Na because in the case of Seo Jin/Robin/Terry, those sides are manifested in different personalities but at their core, they're all just Seo Jin. I have a feeling that if multiple personalities of Seo Jin are ever going to integrate, it's going to come at the hands of Ha Na. I know I could be totally off here but I really think that everything is going to come down to Ha Na's realizing that she loves Seo Jin as a whole more than she loves the side of him that is Robin. I think that at some point Ha Na is going to have to push Robin away and that will lead to his integration but who knows? If there's one thing this drama is good at it's doing what's least expected.

As much as I love Seo Jin, I'm fairly annoyed at the way he's going about this whole thing with Ha Na. I get that he doesn't want to force himself on her but he's being way too passive. He keeps saying that he wants to do things he's only ever dreamt of doing but he's not actually doing any of them. Unless, he's always dreamt of leaving a tray of food, drink and medicine on the bedside table of a sick woman and if that's the case, then I'm writing Seo Jin off as completely hopeless. However, I don't think that's quite it. I just think Seo Jin is too afraid of offending Ha Na, so he keeps himself at a distance. I'm fully convinced Seo Jin wants Ha Na to come to him on her own terms and that's fine but he needs to realize she's never going to do that if he doesn't make some sort of an effort. By constantly handing her off to Robin, he's making it more difficult for Ha Na to let Robin go and that's exactly what needs to happen if these two personalities are ever to become one.

Perhaps now that Dr. Yoon has shown up with a very clear intent to take Ha Na away from Seo Jin/Robin, Seo Jin will finally step up and be the hero I so desperately want him to be. I've been cheering for this man from the very beginning, I think it's time he step up and prove to me my faith hasn't been ill-placed. I'm going to be supremely disappointed in Seo Jin if he hands the rescue of Ha Na over to Robin. I mean leaving her in Robin's care while she was sick was one thing but this... This is something altogether different and Seo Jin needs to take this opportunity to step up. If he doesn't Robin will and that will most likely solidify him as the main personality. If this really is the pivotal point for Seo Jin/Robin, then whatever happens next is going to determine how this story ends. Personally, I'm cheering for Seo Jin to emerge triumphant but who knows if I'll actually get my wish.

I have to say, as this story draws slowly to a close, it's beginning to get a bit ridiculous. Okay, okay, it's beginning to get a bit MORE ridiculous. This whole hypnosis thing with Dr. Yoon has gotten completely out of control. It was one thing for him to be able to brainwash someone on a one-on-one level but being able to control the entire police force just by playing a song is really too much. At some point there has to be a limit to the amount of power Dr. Yoon wields and I think it's safe to say we've moved way beyond that. Dr. Yoon may be a good psychiatrist but he's not a wizard and there's just no way he could have this much power. I think it's high time he stop with this nonsensical voodoo and get down to the business of exacting revenge or uncovering the truth or whatever it is he's actually after. (Does anyone even know what he's after at this point???) It's obvious he's after Ha Na now but why? Is he trying to break Seo Jin or is he simply trying to use her to uncover the truth? (Or is he really just a psychopath who's no longer operating under the influence of a sound mind?)

It's obvious we have much to ponder as we wait for the next episode but at least our minds can rest easy knowing Dr. Kang is finally safe. Or is she? Just because she's in the hospital doesn't mean he's out of harm's way. Obviously. Just look at that poor kidnapper. He had the crap beaten out of him and then was kidnapped by Dr. Yoon. I guess what goes around really does come around... But back to Dr. Kang. I'm really beginning to wonder about this woman. She's kidnapped, rescued, kidnapped again, rescued again... It's a dizzying cycle and I cringe at the possibility of this cycle continuing, but to what end? I'm not really sure but I bet it's safe to say she's not out of harm's way just yet. It wouldn't surprise me if Dr. Yoon brings all the players in this rather dramatic saga to one final showdown, most likely in some abandoned warehouse rigged with lethal gas and covered in C-4. They could all have a big, long, tense counseling session and in the end, Dr. Yoon could blow the whole place to smithereens... Wouldn't that be a most upsetting ending! Still, with this show, you just never know...
