Kim Soo Hyun Tops The List As Most Influential Korean Star In China

Kim Soo Hyun, "Running Man" star Kim Jong Kook and Krystal of f(x) were chosen by the Chinese online publication People's Daily as the most influential Korean stars of 2014. 

An article published by the Korean outlet My Daily with the title “Chinese media, Krystal the #3 most influential star in Korea, Kim Soo Hyun at #1 and Kim Jong Kook at #2” analyzed the statistics reflected from the voting process. The stars were selected by netizens through an online voting process.

Kim Soo Hyun experienced meteoric popularity in China following the success of “My Love From The Stars.” Audiences continued to demonstrate strong support for the actor throughout 2014, even though he remained inactive as an actor, during most of the year.

Kim Jong Kook has increased his fan base, through his appearance in the Chinese “Running Man” film.

Krystal of the K-pop electronic dance group f(x) was one of the stars who made the largest leap in popularity with fans in China. According to the poll results, Chinese audiences became more interested in Krystal after her role in the 2013 teen drama, “The Heirs.” In 2014, the K-pop idol transitioned from supporting roles to lead the musical drama, “My Lovely Girl” which starred Rain and INFINITE's L.

Yoo Jae Suk who was chosen as the most popular Korean comedian, in a recent Gallup Korea poll, dropped to fourth place on the list published by People's Daily.

Kim Soo Hyun was also chosen as the most popular Korean television actor in 2014, through a Gallup Korea poll. According to the comprehensive report that was published in English by allkpop, the Gallup Korea poll was taken from a sample size of 1,700 Korean men and women over the age of 13, in October 2014.

Popular young actors Lee Jong Suk, Lee Min Ho and Kim Woo Bin were notably absent from top placements on both lists.
