TVXQ's Changmin is up for his first role in a historical drama. And it's not just any saeguk but a fantasy historical drama. On March 25, SM Entertainment revealed that the singer-actor was considering the role of a crown prince in 'The Scholar Who Walks The Night."

If he takes the role it will be his first time acting in a historical drama.  Shim Chang Min previously acted in "Mimi," "Athena: Goddess of War" and he played the lead role of Han Dong Joo in the drama "Paradise Ranch." He won Newcomer Awards at the Japanese Academy Awards and the Hochi Film Awards for his role in the Japanese film "Fly With The Gold."

"The Scholar Who Walks The Night" is the story of a young noblewoman whose family is ruined because of a terrible injustice. She is forced to dress up as a man and sell books so they can survive. On one of her nighttime excursions she meets a mysterious scholar who turns out to be a vampire. The drama has been described as the k-drama version of "Twilight" but that has been said about several k-dramas.

Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin were both up for the lead vampire role in this drama, but they both eventually turned it down. Kim Soo Hyun chose instead to appear in "Producers."

Lee Jun Ki, last seen in "Two Weeks" and "The Joseon Gunman," is currently negotiating the role of the undead scholar. Han Groo, last seen in "One Warm Word" and "Marriage, Not Dating," might play his leading lady. Her agency, Climax Entertainment, told the Korean publication TV Daily that she received an offer to appear as the female lead in the drama but she's not yet confirmed.

Jang Hyun Joo, who wrote the classic k-drama "Coffee Prince," has written "Scholar Who Walks The Night." Director Lee Sung Joon was the second director on the historical dramas "Empress Ki" and "The Moon Embracing The Sun." "The Night Walking Scholar" is due to air in July.

All the current and former members of TVXQ have now ventured into acting. Junsu has appeared in a few musicals. Park Yoochun is now an award-winning actor with the film "Sea Fog" and several hit dramas to his credit. Kim Jaejoong won praise for his work in "Triangle" and "Spy." Yunho was last seen in "The Journal of a Night Watchman."
