Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Available in the US via Cricket Wireless, Detailed Specs, Features and Price

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, which started selling in Asia last year, is now available in the US.

Phone Arena reported that Cricket Wireless in the US is offering the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime for $179.99. The model is prepaid and the price is without any long-term contract signing requirements needed.

"We are staying on trend and keeping up with what customers want by continuing to expand our lineup of high quality, affordable 4G LTE smartphones," said Janna Ducich, vice president and chief marketing officers of Cricket Wireless. "This is a great device for those looking for a larger screen and premium features without the high price tag."

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime has a 5-inch qHD screen TFT display, with a resolution of 540 x 960, which translates into 220 ppi.

Under the hood, the device runs on a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor quad-core with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. It has Adreno 306 GPU with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64 GB.

In terms of camera, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime has a CMOS 8MP rear camera with photography features such as touch focus, LED flash, Geo tagging, panorama, face and smile detection. On the other hand, the front camera has a CMOS 5MP with an ultra-wide view angle of 85 degrees. The device has a video recording resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

As for the operating system, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime runs on Android's KitKat 4.4, which has enhanced performance and greater productivity.

The handset has a standard battery capacity of 2600 mAh, which lasts 17 hours talk time on 3G and up to 10 hours of video playback time. Furthermore, the Samsung claimed that Galaxy Grand Prime is packed with tons of useful features for better usability, greater productivity and enhanced performance.
