So many fans showed up for the filming of a commercial starring Lee Min Ho that production had to be halted.

Lee Min Ho was shooting an ad campaign on a set in Xiamen, China, when the number of people who showed up for a glimpse of the actor made it difficult to continue. More than once fans rushed toward the set and the security force worried that it might be difficult to contain them.

The production team halted the filming to prevent accidents.

Lee Min Ho's agency, Starhaus Entertainment, made a statement about the situation.

"We even had to hold an emergency meeting to deal with the unexpected situation," said the Starhaus Entertainment representative. "We did not expect these many fans to find the set and come. We are grateful for their support and cooperation."

The filming required a tight schedule as shooting was scheduled in Hangzhou the next day. The crew sought nearby locations and improvised so that the filming could be done on time and without any safety concerns.

It's not the first time that Lee Min Ho has required a Chinese security force to hold off the crowds. Lee Min Ho is so popular in China that he can't go anywhere without bodyguards. Every time fans know he is due to arrive, they show up at the airport to greet him, often in the thousands. In Dec. 2013, thousands of fans arrived at Beijing International Airport to meet the actor and he had to be ushered through a special VIP gate.

In October 2014, large numbers of his fans waited for him a Guangzhou airport.  But to preserve order, they formed a human barricade and kept a safe distance from the star.

Fans are usually respectful and maintain a respectful distance, but the commercial's production crew wanted to be sure no one was hurt.

Fortunately, the shoot proceeded without incident. Lee Min Ho remained calm and kept filming without seeming distracted. He even smiled at his fans.

The actor was last seen in the gangster noir film "Gangnam Blues" and the high school drama "The Heirs." He is currently considering a role in an upcoming Chinese film. The actor received a personal call from Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi. She asked him to consider a role in the film "Eternal Doll." He is waiting to read the script before he makes a decision.
