Lee Si Young Walks Through Fire For 'Lady Action'

Actress Lee Si Young literally walked through fire on the pilot of the new action variety show "Lady Action."

According to a report in the Korean media outlet OSEN, the actress took her fire walk to make up for another action stunt challenge that terrified her.

The program also features actresses Choi Yeon Jin, Jo Min Soo, Kim Hyun Joo, Son Tae Young and Lee Mi Do. The actresses are challenged to perform high altitude wire, water and fire stunts.

Lee Si Young is in great physical shape and she is not usually afraid of a physical challenge. She took up amateur boxing as a sport and is so good at it that she is trying out to represent Korea in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Lee took up boxing after she had to learn it for a role. She participated in several amateur boxing matches and tried out for the national women's boxing team.

Lee Si Young's bid for the Olympics will be her second attempt to represent Korea at an international multi-sport event. She wanted to take part in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games as part of the Incheon City Boxing Team. A dislocated shoulder interfered with her plans and almost led her to give up boxing. Despite sustaining injuries to her shoulder and her knee, she keeps fighting. She is not afraid of being hit but she is afraid of heights.

And her first challenge on "Lady Action" was taking a 36-foot fall. The very idea of jumping brought her to tears but she did not let her fear paralyze her and jumped anyway.

Because Lee Si Young did not like the way she performed in that stunt, she said she would attempt another stunt, one which involved running through fire. When stunt men and women run through fire for a drama or film scene, they are usually covered with a heavy water gel to protect them from getting burned. So, Lee Si Young was covered in water gel and completed the stunt.

The director, Jung Dong Hyuk praised her work.

"That's the first time I've seen an actress run through fire," said Jung.

Actress Son Tae Young also ran through fire.

Lee has done some of her own stunt scenes in dramas, causing viewers to compare her to Angelina Jolie.
