"IRIS" Lee Da Hae vs Kim Tae Hee "Whose Story is More Tragic?"
NSS agents fell into a state of emergency when Jang Hyuk loses his memories and becomes an IRIS agent.
During the 10th episode of the KBS drama "IRIS 2" that aired March 14 featured Jung Yoo Gun (Jang Hyuk) trying to escape IRIS after getting parts of his memories back. Previously, Jung Yoo Gun had shot his girlfriend Ji Soo Yeon (Lee Da Hae) when he couldn't recognize her.
In order to explain everything to Ji Soo Yeon, he tries to escape IRIS but Jung Yoo Gun gets caught shortly after he escapes with the help from Rie (Yoo Min). Jung Yoo Gun's life becomes endangered after getting caught by IRIS again. Ji Soo Hyun begins to believe that Jung Yoo Gun had been a spy for IRIS this whole time.
This story resembles the story of Kim Hyun Joon (Lee Byung Hun) and Choi Seung Hee (Kim Tae Hee) from "IRIS" season 1. Kim Hyun Joon successfully completes the assignment from the assistant director Baek San (Kim Young Chul) of NSS. However, he is deserted by the NSS when his identity becomes revealed. He also has to watch his love Choi Seung Hee get into a car that eventually explodes.
After getting betrayed by his own country and forced to say goodbye to his love, Kim Hyun Joon begins to work with North Korean agent Park Cheol Young (Kim Seung Woo). Within moments, Kim Hyun Joon suddenly turns into a North Korean spy.
Kim Hyun Joon falls into a dilemma after finding out Choi Seung Hee is still alive. However, he is unable to go see Choi Seung Hee since he already agreed to work with the North Koreans. Kim Hyun Joon even endures through having to torture her physically during an interrogation.
The situation is very similar to what Ji Soo Yeon in "IRIS 2" has to endure through. Ji Soo Yeon can't help but believe that Jung Yoo Gun is a spy for IRIS after he shoots her, especially since she does not know that he lost his memories.
In "IRIS" season 1, Choi Seung Hee continues to believe in Kim Hyun Joon. She understands everything Kim Hyun Joon is required to do in his situation and helps him carry out his plans until the very end. In the end however, Kim Hyun Joon gets killed by IRIS. It was even more of a tragic ending because he was on his way to make wedding vows with Choi Seung Hee.
What kind of ending will "IRIS 2" have? Will it be a tragedy like the first season?
