Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson came back to practice on Monday and took part in individual drills. He returned to the field for the first time since he bruised his left thigh last Tuesday, according to ESPN.

"Peterson, who missed the Vikings' final two days of practice during training camp, didn't take part in any 11-on-11 work Monday," ESPN said.

Adrian told last week he would be playing with the injury if it were during the regular season. The team, however, are not planning to use Peterson during the preseason. Vikings will take their time to make sure he is completely recovered before returning him to a full practice.

In Peterson's absence, Jerick McKinnon continued to get most of the first-team snaps at running back, ESPN noted.

The Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was injured during a practice session on Tuesday in the afternoon in Mankato, according to a report in Star Tribune. The player did not return to practice. However, a Vikings had confirmed that Peterson was fine.

Peterson was tangled up with other players on Tuesday during an inside running drill at training camp. He fell to the ground while appearing to hurt his leg. After the fall, Peterson limped to the sidelines, as reported by Fox Sports.

After a few minutes, he returned for one play. However, he was not able to complete the practice session as he left the field with head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman. Apparently he had a thigh injury, the report from Star Tribune.

Adrian Peterson remained during the session suggesting that his injury was not too severe. "He got tangled up," McKinnon said. "A defender fell on him, but he said he was alright. Everybody knows Adrian's got a cape on. He'll be back out here tomorrow. I don't think anybody's worried about him."

Peterson has missed seven total games in his last four full seasons. Further to this, his season in 2014 was shortened due to his suspension, according to Star Tribune.
