Hyeri Is Totally Eighties In The First Behind-The-Scenes Photo For 'Reply 1988'
Hyeri adopts the sweet and nerdy style of the 1980s in the first behind-the-scenes photo from the upcoming tvN drama, "Reply 1988." On September 9, the production company for "Reply 1988" released the image, which was published by the Korean outlet, XSports News.
In the photo, the 21-year-old acting idol is depicted with a short, blunt haircut, stonewashed denim and polka dot blouse. She is flanked by three male actors who are also styled in stonewash jeans and denim jackets. The hairstyles are relatively traditional when compared to the hair-sprayed curls that dominated western fashion in the eighties, providing proof that "Reply 1988" will lend a unique Korean perspective on the decade.
"Reply 1998" will reference the long-running MBC series, "Three Families Under One Roof," which aired from November 1986 through November 1994. "Three Families Under One Roof" was a Sunday morning family series which explored the conflicts and friendships that arise between neighbors.
The drama is the latest installment in the popular "Reply" series, which previously examined Korean pop culture in the '90s. While "Reply 1997" and "Reply 1994" analyzed the rise of K-pop groups, "Reply 1988" has the potential to focus on how Korea's transition from the rock sounds of Sinawe led to the rise of Seo Taiji.
Hyeri leads the cast which includes Park Bo Gum (I Remember You), Ryoo Hye Young (Spy) and Ko Gyung Pyo (Warm and Cozy). The series will premiere after the completion of "Twenty Again."
