HTC One A9 shipments were supposed to commence last week but its official online listing says there are color models which are delayed.
HTC said AT&Tand T-Mobile orders for the Silver and Gray unlocked handsets will ship on Nov. 10 while such orders from Sprint will be later this month, according to a post on GSM Arena.
The Gold unlocked HTC One 9 variant for AT&T and T-Mobile will have a late November shipping while the model for Sprint will be in the middle of December. The HTC One A9 shipment for the red unlocked models for T-Mobile and ATT are set in early December while those of Sprint will be in the middle of next month.
To compensate for the HTC One A9 shipment delay, the smartphone maker from Taiwan offers "25% off of accessories to protect and personalize your new phone." It is sending emails to announce the shipment delays. The HTC One A9 handset is offered at a promotional price of $400 from its $500 regular tag.
Last month, the first revealed price of the device was an "unapologetically" $688, which was a big disappointment for tech hopefuls who were expecting so much from the A9. Considering the crisis HTC is undergoing, tech enthusiasts were keen to know if the product will be a hero to save the business.
The leaks, however, could not prevent to create doubts, especially when the details of the device were first known when, Orange, a French carrier, "accidentally" put up the HTC One A9 website with all the details of the device last month.
The details revealed mediocre specs, unoriginal design and most importantly, a high price. The Internet has already been filled with the buzz that the A9 looks like an iPhone copycat though the Taiwanese OEM has a ready rationale for that.
It is not new to a unique curve like the One M lineup, unibody build and the uniquely flat rear like that of the Desire family. The end product looks like an iPhone 6 or 6s.
What Orange had disclosed, Slash Gear, the phone looks like a mid-range one, at least when compared with the flagships this year. HTC still does the 1080p resolution to the phone's display, then lowered the camera specs to 13 and 4 MP main and secondary units.
