Several Korean dramas premiered this month, and to be honest, it has taken up most of our time. We don't really mind the wonders that lots of K-series bring, especially the rom-com ones that have recently arrived on our television screens.

One particular newly-aired drama has not only caught the public's eye but their hearts as well - KBS's "To All The Guys Who Loved Me," starring actress Hwang Jung Eum. It's fun, romantic, and not your typical rom-com drama, and here's why.

Watch out for spoilers!

First, the storyline tells viewers that love comes in the most unexpected and mysterious ways. The drama mainly revolves around a woman named Seo Hyun Joo (Hwang Jung Eum), who is tired of love and gives up on the idea of marriage after undergoing heartbreaks. When she sets her decision in stone, two men with utterly different personalities, named Hwang Ji Woo (Yoon Hyun Min), the handsome CEO of a pharmaceutical company, and Park Do Kyum (Seo Ji Hoon), a webtoon artist and a childhood friend, battle to win her heart.

Second, it emphasizes that self-love isn't selfish. Hwang Jung Eum plays a webtoon producer who makes sure that everyone in the company is doing their job correctly and promptly. Despite her being the "babysitter" of the company, her hard work pays off because their webtoons are ranked top on their site, which reflects on her also being the top producer of their webtoon company.

At a young age, Seo Hyun Joo went through a number of rough boyfriends. Her first boyfriend was a mama's boy who broke up with her when his mom told him to. He meets several boys that lead her to believe that love doesn't exist. He then meets a guy who changes her perspective of love and led to an engagement party, yet, she decides to marry herself. She gives a speech saying she can only think of reasons against marriage rather than reasons for marriage, so she decides to stay single forever.

Her message emphasizes that being single is not supposed to be dreaded but should be celebrated, which overall made her speech powerful.

Third, it brings a heartwarming story about Seo Hyun Joo's past lives. When Seo Hyun Joo was young, she fell down a lake and was sent to the hospital. Later on, she kept blabbing out words such as "I want soju."
Apparently, she is able to recover past memories from her past lives because of this accident. And in these lives, she falls in love with the same man but also experiences heartbreak three times because of him. This man, who Seo Hyun Joo falls in love with, is Hwang Ji Woo, who is one of the men who try to win her over.

Fourth, the drama includes unique characters. Although viewers do not find out much of Hwang Ji Woo's history in the first few episodes, viewers get to see what kind of a man he is. Hwang Ji Woo is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company and hates to be in tight spaces. He plans to get Seo Hyun Joo fired from her company so that he can transfer her to his company and hires people to watch her every move, which makes his gestures a little bit over the top, but given that he also remembers Seo Hyun Joo from his past life, his extreme gestures will sure be justified how he badly wants her back.

Of course, the drama's love triangle is not complete without Park Do Kyum, who not only works with Seo Hyun Joo as a webtoon artist but is her closest friend. Their bond is so strong that when Seo Hyun Joo gets fired and goes to work for Hwang Ji Woo's webtoon development division, she brings Park Do Kyum with her.
