“Three Days” Set Record As Most Expensive Korean Drama Sold In China

Fresh from its debut episode last March 5, new SBS drama "Three Days" already set the record as Korean drama with the most expensive broadcasting rights sold in China.

A representative from the drama revealed, "Before, Chinese broadcasting sites only purchase dramas for $10,000 per episode, but 'Three Days' was sold for five times more, even beating out its predecessor 'Man From The Stars'."

Youku, one of China's most popular streaming sites, purchased the publication rights, and according to its records, "Three Days" recorded a much higher viewer content for its premiere episode than any other Korean drama that has been streamed in the past.

In addition, they said, "The demand for broadcast rights to Korean dramas in Japan is beginning to go downhill because of the country's falling economy, but that gap has been filled by demands from Chinese broadcasting market. In the end, Park Yoo Chun's status as a Hallyu star plays a big part in this, as well as the drama's quality well-made content."

"Three Days" is about the top presidential guard Han Tae Kyung and his mission to retrieve the president after being held hostage during one of his personal vacations. It stars Park Yoo Chun, Son Hyun Joo and Park Ha Sun.

The drama airs every Wednesdays and Thursdays on SBS.
